The short version

This website sets no cookies of its own. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no session or login cookies, and nothing is kept in your browser’s storage. That is also why you are not asked to accept anything when you arrive: there is nothing of mine to consent to.

A few pages load content from other companies, and that content can bring cookies of its own. Those are listed below.

Cookies set by this website

None. The site has no accounts, no logins, and no settings to remember, so nothing needs to be stored on your device. The visitor statistics described in the Privacy Policy do not use cookies and do not depend on them in any way.

Cookies that can come from other companies

Where a page loads something from a server I do not run, that company can set its own cookies, and your browser may send it any cookies it has already stored for them. This happens in four places:

• The Steam hardware survey page
  The page at /dx12-gpus-data/ is a mirrored copy of the Steam Hardware Survey. Opening it directly loads scripts and stylesheets from Valve’s content delivery network, and that code can read and write cookies and browser storage belonging to Steam. The chart page at /dx12-gpus/ reads the survey page as plain text and rebuilds the tables itself, so nothing belonging to Valve is loaded there.
• Avatars on articles with comments
  A handful of older articles show avatar images from Gravatar, operated by Automattic. Loading those images lets your browser send any cookies Gravatar has already set for you.
• Embedded images from Imgur
  Some articles embed images and albums from Imgur in a frame. Imgur can set its own cookies inside that frame.
• The newsletter form
  Submitting the sign-up form on the homepage takes you to Mailchimp, operated by Intuit, who can set cookies on their own pages.

None of these are under my control, and each is governed by that company’s own cookie and privacy policies.

How to control cookies

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most can block third-party cookies entirely. Doing so will not break anything on this site, because nothing here depends on them.

Changes to this cookie policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the ‘last updated’ date at the bottom of the page will be updated.
